Auburn Bay: Start Building Your Family’s Memories
You want more from life than the 9 to 5, the bright lights and hustle and bustle of the big city.
Welcome home…to Auburn Bay.
Inspired by Ontario’s cottage country, this Calgary community holds a small-town atmosphere. You and your family will discover a comfortable and relaxed place to call home on the edge of the city.
Imagine waking up to the peaceful sounds of nature - the chatter of chirping birds, the rustle of the wind in the pine, birch and spruce trees that line the streets in Auburn Bay. And you know you’re at home in Calgary’s premier community.
A 43 acre freshwater lake is on your doorstep, along with walking trails where you can take a relaxing stroll with the kids and the dog.
The cottage-country atmosphere makes Auburn Bay special. Each home lends to that cottage feel with vibrant colours and cozy architectural details. The homes feature dormers, cupolas, window boxes and shuttered windows.
A place to play
This is where your family will play together and start creating lifelong memories.
Auburn Bay is home to an active community association that operates Auburn House, a community centre, and its use is exclusive to the community’s residents. The centre is a 16,000 square-foot facility with a gymnasium, a daycare and banquet/meeting rooms.
With your community membership - automatic with your home purchase - you get access to the community centre, the lake, a private beach and a 13 acre park.
Auburn House offers use of rowboats, canoes, pedal boats, kayaks and stand-up paddle boards. The four-season facility also provides recreational programs for youth, adults, and family - along with access to scuba diving, tennis courts, a water spray park, picnic shelter, lake-access walkways, fishing, along with skating and tobogganing in the winter.
Tot lots dot the community, so play areas are nearby for every young family.
And don’t worry, golfers. You have five courses in chipping distance. The public facilities nearby are Maple Ridge, Shawnee Slopes, Heritage Pointe, and McKenzie Meadows. Willow Park Golf & Country Club is a private club.
A place to learn
It’s an exciting time in Auburn Bay. Children currently head for schools in neighbouring communities, learning at Andrew Sibbald elementary, Nickle junior high and Dr. E.P. Scarlett high school.
There are also Catholic schools available; St. Cecilia (kindergarten to grade 6), Don Bosco (kindergarten to grade 9), St. Matthew (kindergarten to grade 9), Christ the King (kindergarten to grade 9), and Bishop Grandin (grades 10-12).
The community’s plan has land reserved for five schools. One kindergarten to grade 4 and one Catholic school is scheduled to be completed by 2016, ensuring your kids soon won’t have far to travel to get their education.
A place to heal
Families like to be assured excellent health care is nearby. The opening of Calgary’s South Health Campus makes the southeast corner a truly desirable location.
The new hospital, with a year-round, 24-hour emergency department, became fully operational in 2013. It houses care units, operating rooms, intensive care units, obstetrics and women’s health programs.
It’s just across the way in neighbouring Seton, so you can rest assured excellent care is only a few minutes away.
Close to everything you need
Shopping and day-to-day services are nearby at 130th Avenue, Cranston Market, and McKenzie Towne’s High Street.
Don’t miss the vibrant Seton shopping district, along with its active main street and public library. Seton is set to be one of the most complete mixed-use developments in the country, including office and retail spaces, a park, residential units, and more. Some stores have already opened, including a Save-On-Foods and Shopper’s Drug Mart.
Okotoks is also just a few more minutes down Deerfoot Trail.
And if you’re looking to get even farther out of the city, you’re in easy reach of Kananaskis Country and the gorgeous Rockies.
Heading into town
Many of Auburn Bay’s residents work downtown, knowing their city escape is just a drive away at the end of the work day.
Getting to Calgary’s downtown core is easy. Auburn Bay is nestled in the southeast corner of the city, just east of Deerfoot Trail and just south of the newly opened Stoney Trail ring road.
Whether you work in the city or you’re craving a bit of weekend play on Stephen Avenue, you just have to jump on Deerfoot and head for Calgary’s bright lights.
It’s an easy drive, taking less than 30 minutes during off peak times.
Don’t forget about the future southeast LRT line either. When it’s up and running you’ll be able to take it straight into the core.
A place to call home
Auburn Bay is a place where you get to know your neighbours and enjoy the convenience of city life while living in a quiet, suburban community.
You and your family will thrive in a warm, friendly neighbourhood.
It’s a place to belong.
A place for your family to grow.
A place to breathe deeply and remember what life is all about.
