Cool, Calm & Connected Living in McConachie

Life can move quickly in Edmonton, but the city’s vibrant northeast is a place where the pace is decidedly more relaxed. It’s a little escape from the everyday – and McConachie lays directly at its heart.

With its ambling tree-lined trails, abundance of green space, and picturesque ponds, this family-oriented community strikes a perfect balance between Edmonton’s natural beauty and its modern urban living. There’s an authentic “River Valley” feel, creating a year round playground for both the young and the young at heart.

In McConachie, you get all the peace and quiet of country living with the luxuries and conveniences of the city-life right at your doorstep. Stay as connected as you choose, with immediate access to schools, retail centers, transit, a major hospital and other essential lifestyle services.

In this quick guide, you’ll discover all of the essential highlights and conveniences you’re going to love about living here.

Get Out and Explore!

While there’s no doubt you’ll love your home, sunny days in McConachie were made for being outside – and with so much to enjoy just steps from your driveway, you won’t have any excuse!

McConachie offers its residents an environment rich with open green spaces and walking trails through natural treed areas. Kids will love hopping on their bicycles and meeting their friends at the soccer fields or the baseball diamond at the community’s district park, while parents will savour being able to head out on nature walks with the family dog down winding paths of green. A good pair of binoculars will become a must, as you’ll have plenty of opportunity to catch sight of birds and pond-dwellers as you go about your day.

If it gets a little too chilly to be playing outdoors, have no fear! Edmonton’s newest premier recreational facility, the Clareview Community Recreation Centre, is a short eight minute drive south of McConachie and will be opening its doors very soon.

This new facility will boast an Aquatic Centre (complete with springboards, water-slides and whirlpools), a fitness centre, hockey arenas with spectator seating, and a whopping 800 parking stalls.

For the die-hard hockey moms and dads out there, the Londonderry Arena is only a five minute drive.

As Connected as You Want to Be

Of course, there will be days you want to plug back into city living or just get to work.

Getting to and from downtown for work by car is also a breeze, with easy access to two main arteries, Anthony Henday Drive and Manning Drive and several buses running adjacent to the community, along 167 Ave.

You can take the bus from 167 Ave to Clareview station and hop on the LRT for a convenient one way trip that should only take 30-45 minutes – great for a convenient morning commute!

Loads of Amenities, Right at Your Fingertips

Whether it’s a quick grocery run or a night out, everything you need is nearby. The adjacent community of Hollick-Kenyon is just a stone’s throw away, with the Hollick-Kenyon Landing Shopping Centre boasting a grocery store, drugstore, liquor store, gas station, several banks and the ever-so-essential Tim Horton’s, as well as fantastic restaurants and other services.

For something even closer, “McConachie Landing”, a new commercial site with 25,000 sq. ft. of leasable retail space, is currently under construction and will soon offer McConachie residents great retail options. It’s all within walking distance, but should you choose to drive you’ll never fight for a parking spot.

If there’s a handyman or handy gal in the family, a Lowe’s Home Improvement centre is just on the other side of Manning Drive, a quick five minute jaunt. When the working day is done, you’ll find a Cineplex Odeon movie theatre in the same area, along with plenty of services and shopping spots.

If there are any bookworms in your family, they’ll love being able to keep their reading list up to date by visiting the Londonderry Branch of the Edmonton Public Library, a quick drive or 15 minute bike ride away.

And should you ever need them, there are many medical clinics all well-within a ten minute drive including Zoe Medical Centre, Northtown Medical Centre, and Manning Medical Clinic, among many others. Take peace of mind in knowing a great doctor is always close at hand.
