Whether you’re buying a new home for the first time or going through the process again, you have an important choice to make: presale versus quick possession. Buying a new home is a big enough decision, so we want to make it easy for you to understand both options. Below are a few key points to take into consideration.
Presale
Presale means, just that. You’ll be buying the home before there’s a shovel in the ground on its construction. You will most likely be choosing your model from the available floorplans unless it is a showhome – in which case you can get a good idea from walking through the home.
It is important to note that sometimes lengthy stretches of nasty weather can holdup construction on a presale build. With that said, buying a presale home gives you more control over the process. Since you’re stepping in at the get-go, you have the benefit of making a number of choices that aren’t part of the experience when picking a quick possession home. For example, you’ll have the chance to personalize your home with colours and materials that best reflect your sense of style at our extensive Selections Studio.
Quick Possession
Quick possessions are homes that are already underway, if not already finished construction. This can be an appealing option for people who like to see before they buy. Depending on what stage the home is in, you may be able to do a walk through and get a good sense of what the finished product will be.
These homes also offer quicker timelines, again it depends on the house but typically you are only looking at a few months before being able to move in. There’s also a set time for when the builder can hand over the keys to your new home.
Something to keep in mind, quick possession homes have usually already had their selections made, these are typically more neutral palettes but still stylish.
We’re Here to Help
Both presale and quick possession homes offer a lot of benefits and the choice will likely be dependant on your preferences. All of our sales teams are more than happy to go over these with you and answer any questions you may have.
If you’re considering a quick possession, we have a number listed in many of our great communities in both Calgary and Edmonton on our website. If you find a floorplan you like and don’t see it as a quick possession home, ask the area manager in the community you’d like to move to. They may be able to help you find the model as a show home in another community or know that it’s coming as a quick possession home, before it’s been listed.
