Accounting Manager (Calgary)

The Position

Morrison Homes is seeking an experienced Accounting Manager to lead the Accounting team at the head office location in Calgary. The successful candidate must have a CPA Designation with three years’ experience in a supervisory role. The candidate must also have strong leadership skills, be responsible, organized and a good communicator.

Responsibilities

  • Manage, coach and motivate the Accounting team to ensure deliverables are completed in an accurate, timely, and efficient manner
  • Development of staff including training, mentorship, performance appraisals, hiring recommendations and planning of the Accounting department
  • Oversee day-to-day accounting functions including Accounts Payables, Payroll, Land Administration, General Accounting and Financial Reporting
  • Review monthly Balance Sheet packages, month-end payables, payroll, government filings and tax instalments
  • Work with managers creating annual operating budget
  • Prepare Income Statement budget to actual variances
  • Prepare and review internal and external reporting requirements including Financial Statements and Bank reporting
  • Coordination of information gathering for annual insurance renewal
  • Other duties and projects as assigned.

Competencies

  • Sage 300 knowledge is an asset. Strong Microsoft Office knowledge including Word, Outlook and Excel (including indexing, vlookup, etc)
  • Ability to problem-solve and proactively identify issues and recommend solutions
  • Experience leading, coaching and mentoring employees for groups of three or more
  • Demonstrate excellent time management and organizational skills to effectively work in a deadline-driven environment and handle a diverse workload
  • Strong attention to detail and pride in quality of work
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Demonstrate a high degree of initiative, self-motivation and inter-personal skills
  • Ability to thrive supervising in a team environment, but also work independently

Qualifications

  • Professionally Designated Accountant (CPA)
  • Minimum 3 years’ experience in a supervisory role of three or more employees

Marketing Specialist (Edmonton)

Morrison Homes is looking for a Marketing Specialist with experience managing digital marketing strategies to join our Edmonton team. As a top, award-winning builder, we’ve worked hard to build a reputation as the Homebuyer’s Best Friend™ and need an enthusiastic marketer to manage advertising and on-the-ground marketing activities in Edmonton, while leading digital marketing strategies across our entire single-family operations in Edmonton, Calgary and surrounding areas.

Responsibilities

Reporting to the Director of Marketing, the Marketing Specialist:

  • Plans and oversees digital marketing activities, including SEO, paid search, social advertising and digital display (working with contractors and agencies as required)
  • Manages Morrison Homes’ lead generation and inbound marketing program (via HubSpot Marketing Hub™ software)
  • Plans and coordinates offline advertising efforts in Edmonton, including direct mail, OOH, radio, etc.
  • Leads the development of Morrison’s website as required
  • Manages third party online listing services and review sites
  • Manages point of sale experience including setting up new sales centres, coordinating print collateral and signage, and otherwise supporting day-to-day requirements of the Edmonton sales team

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Display accountability from follow through to completion
  • Oversee multiple job sites daily from staking/excavation to post possession of home
  • Coordinate the various trades and contractors on site
  • Ensure projects are in accordance to contract and built to applicable specifications and scope of work.
  • Ensure projects are on time and within budget and adhering to company policies and procedures
  • Customer relations – conduct homeowner walk through meetings addressing any concerns in a professional and timely fashion
  • Ensure compliance of all health and safety requirements

REQUIREMENTS

  • 3+ years of proven Site Superintendent experience in the new home industry
  • Solid knowledge of construction site operations and current Alberta Building Codes
  • Ability to multi-task
