Accounting Manager (Calgary)

The Position and Duties

Morrison Homes is currently looking to fill the position of Accounting Manager. The ideal candidate must have a CPA Designation with three years’ experience in a supervisory role. The candidate must also have strong leadership skills, be responsible, organized and a good communicator.

Responsibilities include:

Supervision of the Accounting Department including overseeing Accounts Payable, Banking, Payroll, Land Administration, General Accounting and Financial Reporting. Leading the team and answering all day to day questions is an important part of this role.

Direct responsibilities include reviewing the monthly Balance Sheet package, Income Statement budget to actual variances, month-end payables, payroll, government filings and tax instalments. Preparation and review of internal and external reporting requirements including Financial Statements and Bank reporting. Other duties and projects as assigned.


Education & Skills

  • Professionally Designated Accountant (CPA)
  • Minimum 3 years’ experience in a supervisory role of two or more staff
  • Competency in Microsoft applications including Word, Excel and Outlook is required
  • Trustworthy and professional
  • High level of attention to detail and accuracy
  • Able to multi-task and prioritize
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • Ability to thrive supervising in a team environment, but also work independently

Marketing Specialist (Edmonton)

Morrison Homes is looking for a digitally savvy Marketing Specialist. As a top, award-winning builder, we’ve worked hard to build a reputation as the Homebuyer’s Best Friend™ and need an enthusiastic marketer to manage advertising and on-the-ground marketing activities in Edmonton, while leading digital marketing strategies across our entire single-family operations.

Responsibilities

Reporting to the Director of Marketing, the Marketing Specialist:

  • Plans and executes all digital marketing activities, including SEO, paid search, social advertising and display
  • Manages Morrison Homes’ lead generation and inbound marketing program (via HubSpot Marketing Hub™ software)
  • Leads the development of Morrison’s website as required
  • Manages third party online listing services
  • Develops and coordinates point of sale collateral and signage, and otherwise supports day-to-day requirements of the Edmonton sales team
  • Works collaboratively with internal stakeholders and developer partners to achieve shared business and marketing goals

Requirements

  • Diploma or degree in marketing or communications with a minimum of 4 years of relevant B2C marketing experience
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Must have proven experience with HubSpot Marketing Hub™ software
  • Must have working knowledge of Adobe Creative Cloud on Mac OS X (Illustrator, InDesign)
  • Previous experience within the real estate development or home building industry will be considered an asset

Junior Construction Estimator (Calgary)

Job Responsibilities

  • Residential construction estimating
  • Responsible for cost calculations and quantity take-offs
  • Cost calculations of extras and upgrades
  • Communicate and liaise with estimators, purchasers, sales team, construction team and Selection Studio team members
  • Report to Estimating and Purchasing Manager
  • Correspond with our trade partners and suppliers

Job Qualifications

  • Residential construction experience is an asset
  • Experience in computer applications such as Excel, Word, Sage, Builder MT and other database driven systems will be an asset
  • Knowledge of residential construction and the ability to read and interpret drawings and specifications
  • Work independently and as part of a team on day to day tasks and projects
  • Detail oriented and goal driven
