Condensation & Humidity Control

Home School Care & Maintenance

Follow these steps to control humidity and condensation in your home in the winter months:

  1. Lower your humidity percentage on the thermostat that aligns with the outside temperature. Humidity %’s can be found in your Homeowner Guide Book.
  2. Open the blinds in your home to allow more airflow against the panes of glass.
  3. Ensure all heat registers aren’t covered by furniture or other items.
  4. Allow approximately 48 hours for the humidity to adjust to your new settings.
  5. Reduce the amount of moisture going into the air in your home: shorter showers, using the HRV for longer when showering/bathing, and using the hood fan when cooking.
