Sink Drain Clean Out

Home School Care & Maintenance

What to do if there is food/debris stuck in the drain and it is slow to drain or doesn’t drain at all:

  1. Take a flathead screwdriver, or coin, and insert it into the slots on the drain cover.
  2. Rotate counterclockwise until the drain cap is loose and you can use your hands to continue to rotate until the assembly comes out entirely.
  3. Use a rag, or your hands, to remove any debris that is inside.
  4. Insert the drain cover (and screw) back into the threads – then rotate clockwise with your hands until snug then use a coin or screwdriver to tighten until secure.
  5. Turn on the water and check underneath the sink for any signs of moisture or leaks.
