Building Better Communities

At Morrison, building communities is more than just building homes.

That’s why we do our part to give back to the places where we work and live. Through corporate giving, company-wide initiatives and individual causes, we’re happy to give back when we can.

Charities we support include the Calgary Homes Builders Foundation, University Hospital Foundation, Children’s Link, Calgary Homeless Foundation, The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society, Alberta Cancer Foundation, Children's Cottage Society, Calgary Humane Society, and various other organizations over the years.

In January 2010, Morrison participated with SAIT’s Founding Builders and Community Partners program by individually donating $1 million for the construction of the Trades and Technology Complex.

We also get behind our staff in company-wide initiatives. More than just a great party committee, Morrison’s Social Club is an active force behind many company-wide charity initiatives, like our participation with the Calgary Interfaith Food Bank and Relay for Life, through which we’ve raised over $100,000. As a company, we are also strong supporters of the United Way.

And when our industry partners make the call, we answer. Like how we participated in the Polar Bear Plunge to help raise donations for Inn From The Cold. For three years in a row, our fearless plungers earned top spot for the most donations raised, thanks to generous support and contributions from staff, trade partners, and large donations from Morrison Homes.

Morrison Homes made a generous donation as part of our partnership with Resolve and the Calgary Homeless Foundation (along with other home builders and agencies) to help end homelessness in Calgary. This included a commitment to construct a 24 unit, assisted living facility. Aptly named Providence House, this facility will help to offer hope and dignity to those most vulnerable.

Morrison Homes also believes in supporting causes brought forward by individual team members. Going the extra mile has always played a part in the “Morrison Experience”. For Morrison’s Tom, Keith and Frank it was something they felt they could literally do to support diabetes research. Their participation in the 2012 Diabetes Marathon is an example of how Morrison proudly supports its employees in their individual causes throughout the year through publicity and financial contributions.

We’re doing what we can to ensure the quality of our homes is matched by the places in which we build them.
