Building Better Communities

At Morrison, building communities is more than just building homes.

That’s why we do our part to give back to the places where we work and live. Through corporate giving, company-wide initiatives and individual causes, we’re happy to give back when we can.

Charities we support include the Calgary Homes Builders Foundation, University Hospital Foundation, Children’s Link, Calgary Homeless Foundation, The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society, Alberta Cancer Foundation, Children's Cottage Society, Calgary Humane Society, and various other organizations over the years.

60th Anniversary Charity Support

Since 1961, we’ve been donating our time and resources to make a difference for our neighbours, and in 2021 we went bigger than ever before.

In 2021, Morrison Homes donated $60 to local charities and non-profits for every hour our show homes are open.*

How it worked: Every month, Morrison employees chose three local charities close to our hearts. The public voted for their favourites, and the winning charity took home that month’s share of our $208,080 donation and the runner-ups received a donation for their participation.

Morrison Today

Recognizing the hardships many Albertans have been faced with, we're doing what we can to support the two great cities that have always supported us. We are proud to announce that Morrison Homes has donated a combined $100,000 to the Calgary and Edmonton Food Banks this holiday season. We are especially grateful to our customers who continue to put their faith and trust in us, and to our staff and trades for all their hard work and dedication over the past year.

This year we also enlisted trade partners and suppliers and donated a finished kitchen to the Calgary West Family Resource Network, a new facility operated by the Children’s Cottage Society; a charity we have supported since 2018.

Morrison Over The Years

In 2019 Morrison made its final cash donation towards the Calgary RESOLVE campaign to end homelessness. Our partnership with RESOLVE started in 2016, as Morrison Homes began working with the Calgary Homeless Foundation to construct a 24-unit assisted living facility and donated $1.4 Million towards this vitally needed and unprecedented initiative.

In 2018, Morrison Homes was very proud to partner with the Make-A-Wish foundation to construct a two-storey playhouse for a 7-year-old child receiving treatment for Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia. This inspiring and memorable project brought our team closer together as we brought hope and joy to a family going through an extremely difficult chapter in their life.

That same year we chose the Children’s Cottage Society of Calgary as our primary charity partner, providing them with financial support, supplies and labor to help maintain their facility.

In addition to our support of the Children’s Cottage Society, 13 employees volunteered to shave their heads in a virtual event, Razors for Recovery, raising over $10,000 for the addiction recovery services the Calgary Dream Centre offers.

And when it comes to company-wide initiatives, we don’t hold back. Morrison’s Charity Committee is the driving force behind company-wide charity initiatives, like our participation with the Calgary Interfaith Food Bank and Relay for Life, through which we’ve raised over $100,000. As a company, we are also strong supporters of the United Way and support our individual team members and industry partners with causes that matter to them. Take 2012 for example, when Morrison’s Tom, Keith and Frank literally went “the extra mile” by participating in the Diabetes Marathon, supporting diabetes research. Or the three consecutive years that we raised more donations than anyone by participating in the Polar Bear Plunge in support of Inn from the Cold.

In January 2010, we proudly participated in SAIT’s Founding Builders and Community Partners program by individually donating $1 million for the construction of the Trades and Technology Complex.

In addition to these contributions, Morrison is proud to support a variety of other worthwhile causes including Habitat for Humanity, Calgary’s Home Builders Foundation, The Calgary Dream Centre, Calgary’s Women’s Shelter, Canada Helps, BC’s Ride to Conquer Cancer, Jim and Pearl Burns Centre, Calgary Rotary Club, Challenger Park Society, The Mustard Seed, Calgary Health Trust, the Canadian Cancer Society, United Way and various other organizations. Over the years, our staff have rallied together around other important causes and initiatives, including food bank drives and Relay for Life for cancer research.

Working hand-in-hand with these organizations, Morrison maintains a strong commitment to building and supporting our communities.
